چکیده

Background/Aims Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) is currently considered the first-line treatment for eradication of superficial neoplasms esophagus in Eastern countries. However, West, particularly Latin America, experience with esophageal ESD still limited because high technical complexity required its execution. This study aimed to present results clinical application manage a American center over 100 consecutive cases. Methods retrospective included patients who underwent endoscopic between 2009 and 2022. The following outcomes were assessed: en bloc, complete, curative resection rates, local recurrence, adverse events, procedure-related mortality. Results Esophageal was performed mainly squamous cell carcinoma (66.6%), high-grade intraepithelial neoplasia (17.1%), adenocarcinoma (11.4%). En bloc complete rates 96.2% 81.0%, respectively. rate 64.8%. Adverse events occurred six cases (5.7%). follow-up an average period 29.7 months. Conclusions by trained operators feasible, safe, clinically effective managing neoplastic lesions America. Keywords: Early cancer; dissection; Superficial

Ten-year experience of esophageal endoscopic submucosal dissection of superficial esophageal neoplasms in a single center

BACKGROUND/AIMS Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) of a superficial esophageal neoplasm (SEN) is a technically difficult procedure. We investigated the clinical outcomes of ESD to determine its feasibility and effectiveness for the treatment of SEN. METHODS Patients who underwent ESD for SEN between August 2005 and June 2014 were eligible for this study. The clinical features of patients ...

Esophageal Stricture Prevention after Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection

Advances in diagnostic modalities and improvement in surveillance programs for Barrett esophagus has resulted in an increase in the incidence of superficial esophageal cancers (SECs). SEC, due to their limited metastatic potential, are amenable to non-invasive treatment modalities. Endoscopic ultrasound, endoscopic mucosal resection, and endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) are some of the ne...

Clinical Outcomes of Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection for Superficial Esophageal Squamous Neoplasms.

BACKGROUND/AIMS Endoscopic treatment has been broadly applied to superficial esophageal neoplasms. Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) allows for high rates of en bloc resection, precise histological assessment, and low rates of local recurrence. The aim of this study was to evaluate the outcomes of ESD for superficial esophageal neoplasms. METHODS We retrospectively reviewed 36 esophageal...

Effect of Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection for Superficial Esophageal Neoplasms and Risk Factors for Postoperative Stricture

Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) enables wider tumor resection compared with endoscopic mucosal resection and en bloc resection of superficial esophageal neoplasms. However, ESD may cause difficult-to-treat stricture of the esophagus, and therefore, prediction of and measures against postoperative esophageal stricture are critical. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of ESD o...

Current research status of endoscopic submucosal dissection for colorectal neoplasms.

Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) has been applied to, and gradually standardized for, early gastric cancers; however, it has not yet been widely used for treatment of colorectal neoplasms. Compared with gastric ESD, the thinner colorectal wall and winding nature of the colon make colorectal ESD a much more difficult operative technique. Despite greater risks of postoperative complications...
